I had the pleasure of sharing my brand of comedy/motivation with The Dwyer Group, home of Mr. Appliance, Mr. Electric, Mr. Rooter, and four other franchises that rock the service industry.
I first met Dina Dwyer, Chairperson and CEO of The Dwyer Group, at the 2010 International Franchise Association Convention in San Antonio earlier this year. That convention, (IFA) was special because I appeared the day following a visit by the actual former Commander In Chief, George W. Bush! It was surreal, as so many folks thought I was really Dubya, who had just been with him.
All of this made for a perfect set up for the folks at The Dwyer Groups 29th Annual Reunion, an international convention with around 1,500 franchise owners, associates and vendors. We had a real blast, as I had the privilege of spending several days with the convention, serving in various ways.

San Antonio is a wonderful convention town, and a delightful historic experience. My wife Kathy and I took in the sights in the historic downtown district, where we took a boat ride in the fabulous Riverwalk area, just around the corner from The Alamo.
A very funny situation occurred with Kathy and I. We were in The Alamo area, where we actually sighted a roadrunner! Meep Meep! As we were deciding where to eat, Kathy approached a friendly lady with brochures and asked, “Do you know where there’s a Mexican restaurant?” Well if you’re from around there you’ll know there’s nothing BUT Mexican restaurants in the area.
