Happy Thanksgiving!

The way to be happy is to make others so.
Robert Ingersoll

I am excited about the opportunity to recall our many blessings. This is the time of year when we do this with family and friends the most, but it could be our daily exercise. We live in the most prosperous nation on earth, and I’m not talking about merely money, I am referring to faith, freedom, and family.

I am so glad I know who to thank! As a dear woman once told me when I worked at our family appliance store full time, “Honey, I know who pushes my swing.” I am thankful to God Almighty, and Jesus Christ, the direct source of every other blessing I enjoy.

Sure we have our problems, but in the midst of difficulties, sickness, economic uncertainty, we have love, our loving heavenly Father, freedom, and the bond of marriage and our families.
Tuesday night I celebrated the birthday, November 24th, of my friend Dave Gilbert. Dave is married to Patsy Gilbert, the Sarah Palin Impersonator, SarahPalinImpersonator.com, and plays Todd Palin. He was actually born right on Thanksgiving Day, many many years ago(Sorry Dave)

We sat around the fire outback, and reminisced some old tales, and looked forward to new ones.

Last night we attended the surprise birthday party of my 25-year-old son Christopher, also born on November 24th, and also on Thanksgiving Day. We are having an “eighties” party and Kathy and I went ready to DISCO!

Family and friends will all gather today to rekindle, remind, renew and reminisce long time relationships, and to see how big the grandkids, nephews and nieces are becoming.

I am grateful for the growing list of new friends I am forming as I continue to serve new and former clients with each comedic presentation. I LOVE doing what I do, and it is on of the biggest thrills of my life to stand before each and every audience, no matter how large or small, and serve up a hilarious dish of comedic dessert.

This weekend, I plan to go slowly, and notice the little blessings I usually take for granted. I plan to say “I love you” more. More hugs and kisses. More patience, kindness and helpfulness, and a lot more laughter.

Then we’ll see if I can make those changes permanent.
