I almost missed the extreme honor of co-hosting the Christian Music Echo Awards 09 yesterday with my good friend Patsy Gilbert who is one of America's top Sarah Palin Impersonator. http://www.sarahpalinimpersonator.com The event was held at Disney's Coronado Springs Hotel, before "Night of Joy," Disney's annual extravaganza of Christian Music!
The awards banquet was a much anticipated annual honoring of those at the top of their game in Christian Radio, and was highlighted by performances by David Crowder, Plumb, Chasen and others. Orlando's Z88.3 was honored with several of the prestigious national awards.
After much preparation, the afternoon prior to the awards gala and concert, I thought I might be having a heart attack! That's right, I might be experiencing "the big one". My left arm went suddenly numb, and shortly thereafter, I began experiencing pain in my chest! Oh my, no!
I had Kathy drive me first to the fire station, where I could get a quick EKG, and although the test was OK, they highly recommended I go to the emergency room, just to be sure. I had taken an aspirin during the episode, because I remembered reading somewhere about heart attacks and baby aspirin, but the fire department thought that the aspirin might be why my readings were good, but that it might not indicate that everything was actually OK. Rats! So I had Kathy drive me to the hospital across town.
I had Kathy drive for two reasons, I didn't want to crash, if I should suddenly...well...you know. Secondly, i am a wimp who is addicted to sympathy. (Kathy’s input here…hypochondriac!)
In any case, we got to the emergency room, and after a battery of tests questions and X-rays, it was determined that (my description) I was suffering from nothing more than a broken funny bone.
Hey don't laugh, have you ever broken your funny bone? It seems the nerve that controls the inside of the left arm (funny bone) got pinched, setting off the numbness. The chest pain it turned out was just muscle soreness from recent exercise.
I was told by several including my son Christopher, an RN, that if you go to the emergency room with several signs of heart trouble, you'd better bring your toothbrush, because they will almost certainly keep you overnight to run enough tests on you to actually give you a heart attack!
One doctor my son spoke with told him that if he were my Doc, he would keep me overnight for sure. Gratefully, though the emergency room that afternoon was standing room only, and some waited over twelve hours just to get seen by a doctor, I was released that evening, and able to make it to the show after all!
Patsy (Sarah Palin) was relieved, although prepared to bring her tap-dancing shoes if needed,
