Update and Back Story!

First off, thanks to all of you who voted for Generation Letter, the band my son Stephen is a member of. They Won! It is a national competition, and they actually won it, even though they are a new band. Now they will have the chance to perform before a crowd including record company executives and talent scouts. Check them out at WWW.GenerationLetter.comAbout the book…
This is something that has been brewing in my heart for twenty-five years. Not that I knew I’d be a BushGuy all that time, but I’ve just always felt like writing, and that I was going to write, and that I was supposed to write. I just never wrote! I honestly believe that starting blogging has helped to fan the embers into the flame that I needed.
Here’s what happened. I started keeping notes and journaling when I became a Bush Impersonator, knowing that some of the antics I’ve gotten myself into would make for interesting reading. I am in a writers club, and the motivation I have received from that group has inspired me along the way, and I got about five chapters written.
Then I got an invitation to speak at a major event this summer, which takes place in eight major cities. The thought hit me, that would be a great marketing opportunity for the book I never finished writing. I made up my mind then and there to finish the book, whatever it takes. I had been searching to a ghost writer to help me get it done, and finally asked my friend and manager Vince Wilcox, if he’d consider helping me write it. We were off! That next weekend, I was invited to play golf with a friend, and I knew that one of the guys in the foursome would be a Steven Strang, from Strang Communications, based here in Lake Mary, FL.
Of course, I thought about the possibilities, but I didn’t venture to actually hope that this might turn into a deal. I had approached Strang twenty five years earlier about writing a book, and was rejected. I hate rejection. Perhaps that is why I stopped trying. You have to be tough out there folks, and I was a wimp.
Anyway, between the front nine holes and the back nine, we had a leisurely lunch, during which time I mentioned to Steve that I was feverishly trying to finish the book in time for this event. It turns out that Steve knows this event very well, and right then and there, he offers to publish the book. But he said I had to get all this stuff done quickly in order to have the book in my hands in time for the first event. Well to make a long story short, we made every deadline, and it has been such a joy filled process. Vince and I have spent hours and hours looking at each other on our Macs, and working on the book. It is now at the printers, and I’ll have it by June 26th.
It is a funny retelling of my story, with thoughts and insights shared along the way. I’m calling it a comedic, autobiographical, motivational, devotional.
Watch my web site for info on how to get a copy of…”My Life as a Bush…and my heart for imitating Jesus.”
Much thanks for all who’ve prayed and shouted out kudos. I couldn’t be more excited!
